About stomach cancer

The stomach is located around the midway point of the digestive tract, with the mouth, throat and esophagus above it and the small intestines, colon and anus below it. This is why stomach cancer shares many risk factors with other organs of the digestive tract, especially diet, alcohol, tobacco and obesity.

According to the American Cancer Society, 27,600 new cases of stomach cancer will be diagnosed in 2020. But the numbers of new cases and stomach cancer deaths have decline dramatically since the early 1990s.
